Women Of The Night: Golden Globes 2010
The women meant business this year on the red carpet at the Golden Globes and many of them really stepped it up. Olivia Wilde looked absolutely breathtaking in her dark, shimmering Gucci gown, Jimmy Choo heels, and Tiffany jewelry. Her slicked back dark hair and make-up created an overall exotic look for fashionista.
Chloe Sevigny always goes right to the edge with her looks and I always wish she would take half a step back. Her edgy style and risk taking actually gives the pretty blonde a uniqueness, but the ruffles in her smokey Valentino gown overwhelm her tiny frame. The girl sure likes a plethora of material. She switched into a black cocktail dress for the after parties with a layer of tulle that looked like it was out to choke her.
Christina Hendricks has always been a voluptuous goddess, and in the good way no the way people say it when they are trying to think of a nice way to say you could loose 20. The Christian Siriano gown though took a good thing and made her cups avalanche over. Don’t get me wrong, she should be able to take the ladies out, but they look like they are making a run for it. She can pull off the bridesmaid peach with her fiery hair and ivory skin and I like the cross over ruffle, but all pushed up like that and I bet Heidi Montag is carrying around this picture for her next doctor’s appointment.
Though it reminds me a bit of the recycled brand of tissues I like Jennifer Morrison’s Louis Antionio dress and her red lips, earrings, and ribbon make the package pop.
I love the fresh-faced Carey Mulligan and with hair that short, I’m glad she went for a strapless gown from Nina Ricci. The mix of materials makes this old Hollywood shape something new speaking of which, the headband is actually a 19th-century diamond necklace from Fred Leighton.
Sophia Vergara is someone who could have easily gone old Hollywood, but I’m happy to see her with very little make-up, loose hair, and a sculpted Carolina Herrera gown. Until she turned around that is. The back looks like a Christmas present you unwrapped to see what it is and then tried to tape together and put back under the tree.
I’m not usually a fan of the mermaid tail after kindergarten, but Maggie Gyllenhaal’s RM by Roland Mouret “Sirens” mermaid gown kept the tail minimal and the layered shades of soft pink reminded me of an artful watercolor piece.
Julianna Margulies’s deep red Narcisco Rodriguez gown was a great color for her side-swept black hair. The cut-out top saved it from boring, but it wasn’t one of the most memorable.
