William And Harry’s Cousin, Zara Phillips Turns Down Wedding Deal With HELLO!

She a favorite of Queen Elizabeth and seems to be close to cousins Prince William and Prince Harry, but Zara Phillips doesn’t have the royal perks that other members of “The Firm” enjoy.  When Zara and older brother Peter were born, Princess Anne, Princess Royal decided not to give them titles so as to allow her children a more normal life.  Though they are still in line to the throne – Peter 11th and Zara 13th behind Peter’s newborn daughter – both of the queen’s grandkids are private citizens and do not get an allowance from the “public purse.”

Phillips will marry England rugby captain Mike Tindall on July 30th at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh, Scotland and has been offered a lucrative deal from HELLO! Magazine for exclusive rights to her wedding photos.  According to the Daily Mail, Buckingham palace immediately vetoed this option, as it would cheapen the image of the royal family.  “The decision has gone down like a lead balloon with Zara as she feels she should be able to do what she likes with her wedding,” a source said.  What’s more, “It has been made clear to Zara that if she goes ahead with releasing images to the magazine then they will be heavily edited by the Palace and she will not be able to cash in on the royal name.”

When Peter married Canadian Autumn Kelly back in 2008, he pissed off the entire family by A) Selling photos to HELLO! B) Not telling anyone beforehand.  William and Harry were especially miffed, as the photos invaded the privacy of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (at that point, she was Will’s GF) and Harry’s ex, Chelsy Davy.  Everyone, including Queen Elizabeth, was unaware of this deal until the issue hit newsstands.

And yes, William and Catherine will be attending Zara’s wedding, where the bride has chosen to wear a design by Stewart Parvin (Parvin is a favorite couturier of the Queen).  Zara is seasoned equestrian who hopes to represent her country (and her granny) at the 2012 Olympics in London.
