Gahd, this is a hard one. Who wore it best? Princess Margaret at her 1960 wedding to Anthony Armstrong-Jones? Or Grace Kelly in 1956 to Prince Rainier of Monaco? And lest we forget the new girl, Kate Middleton.
We compared the Duchess of Cambridge’s dress to Isabella Orsini‘s at one point, but to bring in the big guns like this is on another level. Kelly’s wedding gown was created by costume designer Helen Rose, consisting of of a full ivory peau de soie skirt, rounded collar, and a fitted bodice made from Brussels lace, according to Grace Kelly Online.
Margaret’s dress was designed by Norman Hartnell, a favorite of the royal family back then. It was very simple, made of silk organza, and is now on display at Kensington Palace. Atop her head, Princess Margaret wore the Poltimore tiara, purchased ahead of her wedding at Westminster Abbey, according to The Wedding Tiara.
Sooooo, who wore it best? Or should we call it a three-way tie?
