New York Daily News reports that Whitney Houston will be laid to rest this Saturday, February 18th in a private funeral.  The service, to be held at Houston’s church in Newark, NJ, will feature a “star-studded” choir to memorialize Houston and her musical impact on the world.

“The family has made it very clear there is going to be a strong musical celebration of her life,” New Hope Baptist Church Pastor Joe Carter told the paper, declining to name just who will be part of the choir.  The funeral will be “invitation only,” preferring to mourn in private rather than hold a public memorial.

The Rev. Marvin Winans, who married Houston and ex-husband Bobby Brown in 1992, will deliver the eulogy.

“They thank all of the fans and friends and the media, but at this time this is their private time,” funeral home owner Carolyn Whigham told the Daily News.  They shared her for 30 some years with the city, with the state, with the world.  This is their time now for their farewell to their daughter, mother.”
