‘Weeds’ Recap: Thwack!

August 17th, 2010 // Leave a Comment

If you haven’t been watching Showtime’s Weeds, well shame on you. Its some of the best TV out there. Let me see if I can catch you up. Nancy’s husband dies. Nancy needs money. Nancy sells weed to provide for her family. But in the process she makes some pretty terrible, yet hilarious blunders, dragging her two sons, brother in law and nanny with her.

She falls for a Mexican drug lord, disguised as a politician and births his baby. His campaign director Pilar, a very intimidating woman, does not like this. She wants Nancy’s sons Silas and Shane out of the picture. She wants the family to seem perfect, with only a half Mexican baby and a hot MILF wife representing Esteban’s legacy. But Nancy’s son Shane has other plans and hits Pilar in the head with a croquet mallet in order to protect his mother. Totally bad ass.

Here is how the first episode went down. The scene opened up with Pilar dead, head bleeding and corpse floating in a pool. Nancy is in shock that her son just killed someone and closes the pool, smashes the security camera and steals the mallet. She is now on the run and fast.

Shane, a young teenage wastoid, who used to be somewhat wholesome says of his recent murder, “Its funny how the lights change color [in the pool]. I wonder if its a salt water pool. It doesn’t sting your eyes as much as chlorine. Not that that’s her issue [referring to dead Pilar].” Wow!

The recap of Weeds continues after the jump.

If you haven’t been watching Showtime’s Weeds, well shame on
you. Its some of the best TV out there. Let me see if I can catch you
up. Nancy’s husband dies. Nancy needs money. Nancy sells weed to
provide for her family. But in the process she makes some pretty
terrible, yet hilarious blunders, dragging her two sons, brother in law
and nanny with her. She falls for a Mexican drug lord,
disguised as a politician and births his baby. His campaign director
Pilar, a very intimidating woman, does not like this. She wants Nancy’s
sons Silas and Shane out of the picture. She wants the family to seem
perfect, with only a half Mexican baby and a hot MILF wife representing
Esteban’s legacy. But Nancy’s son Shane has other plans and hits Pilar
in the head with a croquet mallet in order to protect his mother.
Totally bad ass. Here is how the first episode went down. The
scene opened up with Pilar dead, head bleeding and corpse floating in a
pool. Nancy is in shock that her son just killed someone and closes the
pool, smashes the security camera and steals the mallet. She is now on
the run and fast. Shane, a young teenage wastoid, who used to
be somewhat wholesome says of his recent murder, “Its funny how the
lights change color [in the pool]. I wonder if its a salt water pool.
It doesn’t sting your eyes as much as chlorine. Not that that’s her
issue [referring to dead Pilar].” Wow!How does recent killer
break the news to his older brother? “She was going to kill us so I
popped the bitch right in the melon. Thwack! Splash. Dead.” Silas the
more reasonable of the two is in shock. Naturally.  He asks if Shane is
serious. “Serious as Dad’s heart attack.” We the audience are also in
shock. When did little Shane turn so evil? What does this mean for the
Botwin family? It means getting the hell out of dodge, that’s
what. The nanny is so used to this by now. She tells Nancy where all
the money and valuables are located in the house. Her bag is packed and
she gets her nanny holy-shit-wad-of-cash out of the juice can for a
quick escape. BAMF. “I work for you. I’m always ready to flee,” Nanny
says. Silas criticizes his mother and she answers, “Now you
have the handbook of what not to do.” Andy decides whether to abandon
the abortion doctor Audra aka Alanis Morissette in the clutches of the
Christian zealot stalker. We are all glad when he sides with his family
and Nancy. They are in the mini van and fleeing before you can say,
WTF. Andy sums it up for us all addressing Shane, “You killed
someone with a mallet? That’s hardcore.” And it so is! Nancy listens to
NPR as she chucks the murder weapon out the van window and stares her
son, the cold blooded killer right in the eye through the rear view.
The episode was short and sweet. But it got us hooked for a new awesome
season and who couldn’t love the insane Botwin family more than ever?
