Saturday night (May 19th) I fell down the rabbit hole and landed flat on my arse at Ace Gallery on LA’s Miracle Mile. Young Hollywood’s favorite photographer, Tyler Shields debuted his exhibit, MOUTHFUL there, bringing to life his trippy vision and employing the oddest of characters to entertain guests. An Armani Exchange-clad rabbit hopped up on God-knows-what lured me into the exhibit. ”Let’s get weird,” I said to myself.
There were a few rooms off the hallway that led to the main gallery, each with its own installation; one featured a chess table (strange creatures were on a rotation, and at one point Mr. Shields played against a rabbit). In another room sat more animals in front of a tv, where Harry Shum Jr. found himself in between two pandas at one point.
The gentleman panda saw Modern Family‘s Sarah Hyland and swept her off her feet. The look of fear in her eyes was palpable, and I’m sure she wasn’t all that excited, given that she had major surgery just a month ago. However, Hyland was a good sport about it and let the cameras flash on. I think she made a beeline for the exit soon after.
Shawn Pyfrom wore a vintage camera around his neck (how fitting), while Emma Roberts popped in for a hot second to admire herself on the wall.
The exhibit, presented by A/X Armani Exchange in support of LOVE IS LOUDER, drew the likes of co-founder Brittany Snow (in Armani Exchange and still rocking strawberry blond hair), 90210‘s Jason Deeley (looking ready for Memorial Day on the Cape), Haylie Duff, Whitney Port, Connor Paolo and Tyler Blackburn, to name a few.
