So, were you forced to read The Giver in school? I was…twice. And it was awful.
Seriously, I was the only person in my class who didn’t like it. Still, this doesn’t mean that I’m not going to see the movie version of The Giver, especially after seeing the first trailer that was released today.
The movie, starring Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges, Katie Holmes, Alexander Skarsgard and of course, Taylor Swift, tells the story of a “perfect community, without war, pain, suffering, differences or choice” where “a young boy is chosen to learn from an elderly man about the true pain and pleasure of the ‘real’ world.”
The trailer seems mildly interesting–although don’t blink cause you’ll miss Taylor and her red hair. Also, the kid who gets chosen to receive the memories–played by hottie Brenton Thwaites–is supposed to be 12 in the book, but this actor is 24. Umm, OK.
Watch the video above and let us know what you think in the comments. It’s definitely not what I pictured in my head, but again, I will see it.
