Moet Champagne

As the “Summer of Gatsby” rolls on towards the May 10th release of The Great Gatsby, directed by visionary filmmaker Baz Luhrmann (Romeo+Juliet and Moulin Rouge), and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan, it’s time to get ready for the hottest season with one of the coolest cocktails in the world.

To capture the unforgettable style and distinct party sensibility of the 1920’s, Gatsby filmmakers have partnered exclusively with Moët & Chandon to create a special summer cocktail to coincide with the film’s upcoming release.

The “Moët Imperial Gatsby” is a totally modern take on the classic “Champagne Cocktail” that was very much in vogue during the Gatsby-era Roaring 20’s. The refreshing drink evokes the lavish Champagne-soaked garden parties that are so prevalent in the book and the film.

The cocktail is being served exclusively at the lounges and restaurants of the iconic Plaza Hotel in New York – a key location from the Gatsby film.  Crafted exclusively for The Plaza by world-renowned mixologist Jim Meehan, the Moët Imperial Gatsby, and the hotel’s Moët & Chandon Champagne Cart, create an alluring experience that conjures up images of Gatsby’s champagne soaked soirees.

If Manhattan isn’t in your travel plans this summer, fear not: you can make your own Moët Imperial Gatsby with the recipe below!

Moët Imperial Gatsby

5 oz. Moët Imperial

1 sugar cube soaked in .25 oz. Green Chartreuse

Pour Moët into a chilled flute. Add sugar cube. Garnish with a spiral lime twist

Go see The Great Gatsby, opening in theaters May 10th, and always remember to drink responsibly.
