Tom Hardy Expected To Join ‘Batman 3′ With Christopher Nolan

Deadline is reporting that Tom Hardy is lining up a leading role in Christopher Nolan‘s next installment of Batman. The reasonable assumption is that he’ll be playing a villain, but no clues yet as to which villain the movie will feature.

Hardy is currently attached to play Mad Max in Mad Max: Fury Road, but as we previously reported, filming has been delayed until 2012 which frees up Hardy’s schedule considerably. He’s currently filming This Means War, seen above taking a break and doing a spot of shopping.

Batman 3 is slated for release on July 20, 2012.
Filming is expected to begin in April in New Orleans and as of last month, Nolan and his brother Jonathan were still working on the script.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been rumored to play The Riddler, but is probably fake and Nolan has said he won’t bring back The Joker.
