Tom Cruise Is Cultured

February 5th, 2009 // 4 Comments

Tom Cruise wowed reporters in Rio de Janeiro with his astute and learned knowledge of Brazil’s language and culture.

Tommy caught a nasty case of the Alba’s promoting Valkyrie in Brazil when he mistakenly started speaking Spanish 101 to the Portuguese-speaking Brazilian reporters.

According to Page Six, Tommy (insert gleaming, toothy grin and requisite hand wave) blurted out an “hola” and “gracias” during an interview. You know he was so proud of himself, he probably thumbed through a Spanish For Dummies on the plane.

And he didn’t stop there! Continuing on a Cruise-esque legs crossed, chatty Cathy gab fest he told journalists that he fell in love with Brazil by “watching movies with samba and tango.”

(Watching “movies” with Jesus Luz-look-a-likes would’ve been more accurate)

At least he was half-right there, but tango is traditionally an Argentinian dance, not Brazilian.

Doh!
