Against the backdrop of Olympic Park, Princes William and Harry spoke with BBC’s Sue Barker today about their thoughts so far on the 2012 London Games. ”The support of the British public is something else, the buzz… is astonishing,” Harry said of the feeling and spirit around London (via Entertainment Wise).
Some highlights? Yesterday’s cycling event in the velodrome was exhilarating, with Team GB winning gold and breaking a world record. ”It was absolutely fantastic, the world records being beaten and the atmosphere in there was electric.”
One thing William wasn’t too jazzed about? The fear of getting caught on the “kiss cam.” In fact, it made him a little tense. ”I was absolutely dreading they were going to come and show myself and my wife and that would have been very embarrassing.”
It would be just like on the balcony, Wills!
Though their personal moment wasn’t captured for all to see, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge did let their hair down, especially with all the glory overflowing from the velodrome.
Another highlight was watching Zara Phillips and Team GB take silver at the Equestrian event on Tuesday (July 31st). ”We both missed her European and World Championships when she was there,” Will explained. ”We were always supporting her from the television so to actually be there when she got a medal and they’ve done so well as a team, and to see Team GB do brilliant so early on in the Olympics, I had goose-bumps on the back of my neck and I got far too carried away.”
Would you believe that the boys had no idea Queen Elizabeth took part in the Opening Ceremony? ”Both of us were slightly surprised with our grandmother’s secret hobby that she had of parachuting which went down unbelievably well,” William joked. ”To be honest, we were kept completely in the dark about it, that’s how big the secret was.”
Apparently Harry “got a sniff” about the rumor that Her Majesty would play opposite Daniel Craig, but he thought it was just a rumor. ”You don’t expect the Queen to do something like that,” Harry said. ”What she does in her spare time is her spare time …”
During today’s swimming finals in London, Catherine wore a $99 Zara blazer with gathered shoulders, according to What Kate Wore. Love/need and very patriotic for both Americans and the Brits. Catherine also supported
her future subjects Team GB hockey with Princes Anne, wearing a warm-up jacket, skinny jeans and those Stuart Weitzman “corkswoon” wedges we’re love to loving.
“I mean, there are things to prevent that nowadays, like Propecia. I don’t know why he doesn’t just get those things, those products. You just take Propecia and your hair grows back. Have you not got it over here?”
