The Women: 2010 Grammy Awards
So far we’ve shown you that the women of the 2010 Grammy Awards took some huge fashion risks last night. And some huge fashion misses. There was the oddly uneven (Jennifer Lopez’s Versace), the oddly colored (Katy Perry’s Zac Posen), the oddly see-through (Britney Spear’s Dolce & Gabbana and Ciara’s Givenchy) and the just odd (though not for them Lady Gaga and Imogen Heap twitter dress.)
Some other ladies took some risks with a little more reward.
Kristen Bell chose an Etro gown polished with a bit of Egyptian neckline and one of the best accessories there, a new engagement ring from Dax Shepard. Though the style was a bit shapeless on the petite Bell, the detailing was fresh and who doesn’t love a newly engaged glow!
Mary J Blige picked up on a big trend for the evening, unique necklines, but let the geometric straps talk for themselves instead of crowding the area with feathers, ruffles, or folds.
A few other ladies were headed in the right direction but made a wrong turn or two on their way to the red carpet.
A lot of ladies rocked a mini dress, but the strapless tube style doesn’t turn heads the way that Heidi Klum’s
glittery and plunging number did. Full sleeves and keyhole cutout are
a more interesting way to show skin than strapless and short.
Unfortunately, I kept seeing one of the Real Housewife’s getting on the phone to track down the dress, and the shoes seemed
to be made from the left over materials
Malin Ackerman knocked me over with those high hooker boots. I actually love that she took the thigh high trend someplace new with the puffed leather in the middle, but wish she hadn’t also taken them to Grammys with a latex silver stretch dress she found on sale at Wet Seal.
If Ashanti had left the trail at home and picked a hair style that looked like hair instead of a hat, she would have topped my list with the gold and bronze beaded dress.
Kaley Cuoco went low rider on her neckline, but bored us with black and basic hair.
The Grammy Awards is always a great place to take risk and, good and bad, these ladies made it fun to watch.
