It was an inspirational night at the 2010 Stand Up To Cancer Event. A cause that really touches me. My sister, Michele Wilkinson, is a breast cancer survivor. She was diagnosed two years ago, had a double mastectomy and is currently in remission. Showing that she can do about anything, she’s competing in the Wisconsin Iron Man tomorrow! I’m so incredibly proud of her and all that she’s accomplished and overcome in the last two years. You can read about her story here.
So yes, the Stand Up To Cancer event was extremely meaningful to me. Many celebrity cancer survivors participated in the event. “Cancer doesn’t care how may Oscars you’ve won, or how many tough guys you’ve played,” Michael Douglas, who is battling stage-4 throat cancer, said in a pretaped message, part of the “cancer doesn’t care” intro featuring past and current cancer patients Michael C. Hall, Christina Applegate, Maura Tierney, Lance Armstrong, Kareem Abdul Jabar, Fran Drescher, Kylie Minogue and Survivor‘s Ethan Zohn.
Here’s how you can donate. Text STAND to 40202 to donate $10. To donate any amount, phone in during the telethon or go to www.su2c.org anytime; 100 percent of donations received from the public will go to cancer research.
