Great news for The Vampire Diaries fans: Deadline Hollywood reports that Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) will star in The Originals, a Diaries spin-off written by the show’s co-creator/executive producer Julie Plec.

The April 25th episode will serve as an introduction to the series; Klaus returns to New Orleans’ French Quarter, which he helped to build over 100 years ago.

There, Klaus reunites with his “diabolical” former protege, Marcel (there seem to be a lot of those where Klaus is concerned), and Elijah does his damndest to help his a-hole of a brother find redemption.

To do this, Elijah has to side with Marcel’s enemies.

There’s no word on whether Rebecca (Claire Holt) will be part of this spin-off, but knowing Plec’s style, I wouldn’t rule her out.

The original vampires were first introduced in season two, with an enormously terrifying build-up that made us think Elijah was the one to fear.  Not so, my friends.  Klaus is the real bad-ass, who killed aunt Jenna in order to transform himself into a power hybrid (half vampire, half werewolf).

Are you looking forward to The Originals?
