While watching part I of The Real Housewives Of New York City‘s reunion aired last night, I couldn’t help but notice how calm I was throughout the entire hour. Usually my heads starts to spin around minute :24 and I start asking my television questions about narcissism and the like.
The women this season – Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, Sonja Morgan, Aviva Drescher, Heather Thomson and Carole Radziwill – were an improvement for the overall Real Housewives franchise. The Jersey girls are unbearable to watch, the Miami hookers are trash, and even Beverly Hills is losing its luster.
The New York women, though more tame than the other cities, were interesting. I am mesmerized by Radziwill (or “Cool Carole” as New York Magazine dubbed her). I’m halfway through her memoir, What Remains, and it’s a page turner. This girl is not only a solid writer, but a great story teller. She’s Cool Carole. She’s a princess and wears thigh-high socks with booties in London.
Singer and Morgan are still nuts, and there’s no infiltrating that play group.
I sympathized with Drescher last night when she finally came clean about her anxieties. It can’t be easy to live with the vivid memory of such a traumatic accident. By the way, I found her apology to Singer and Morgan to be sincere. Whether or not they want to accept it at this point is their deal. Again, those two are nuts.
Did anyone else notice that these ladies didn’t deliver as many low blows as in seasons past? It seemed to me like everyone was trying to be constructive without taking digs at one another.
I want to know what you thought of part I last night. A little dull? Do you want to see the cast return for another season?
