This is not your parents’ The Great Gatsby!
The first trailer for the film begins with Kanye West and Jay-Z‘s “No Church in the Wild.” Tobey Maguire narrates us through a genuine full length trailer – no ten second teaser this – which is more than a third over before the titular Gatsby is shown. Somewhat surprisingly, the sense of anticipation does build even in that short amount of time.
Baz Lurman‘s high-end, long-awaited vintage drama The Great Gatsby finally unleashes its very first official trailer. Studded with flashy landscape of 1920s New York City, the promo focuses on Leonardo DiCaprio as a rich man who throws luxurious party almost every night. His secret affair with Carey Mulligan and friendship with Tobey Maguire are also highlighted in the trailer.
The drama was shot in Australia and cost an estimated $150 million to produce. In addition to serving behind the lens, Lurman wrote the script along with Craig Pearce. Also supporting the upcoming film are Isla Fisher, Gemma Ward, Callan McAuliffe, Jason Clarke and Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan.
Warner Bros. Pictures will release The Great Gatsby in theaters across the U.S. on May 10th.
