The Dark Knight Rises premiered in New York last night (July 16th) at AMC Lincoln Square Theater, attended by the cast of the film and then some. Anne Hathaway, who famously spent hours on end at the gym to play catwoman, wore a floor-length white gown from Prabal Gurung‘s Resort 2012 collection.
This is the final installment in the Batman franchise for director Christopher Nolan, which Christian Bale called “bittersweet.”
“I think though that Chris is such a good storyteller, if he says it’s the right time to finish, it’s the right time to finish,” Bale told E! on the red carpet last night. ”It’s the only character I’ve played three times and there’s certainly a lot more stories that could be told, he’s a really interesting character, but enough’s enough. It’s nice to leave when we’re out on top instead of leaving people wanting less.”
Joseph Gordon-Levitt complimented co-star Hathaway’s performance in the flick. ”I’ll tell you what—she’s sexy as hell, but she’s not doing the typical, like, ‘Oh, I’m a vampy, sexy girl,’” he said. “She’s strong. She’s a badass, and I think that’s cool that she’s setting an example that you don’t have to be a girly-girl to be sexy.
Also at the premiere: Tom Hardy, Will Estes, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Griffin Steinfeld, Hailee Steinfeld (in an age-appropriate Marc by Marc Jacobs dress) Chris Daughtry, Pharrell Williams, Nestor Carbonell, Jay Manuel, Cillian Murphy, Zoe Kravitz, Penn Badgley, Juno Temple, Michelle Trachtenberg.
