‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ But Which Females Will Be Cast?

The Hollywood Reporter released a list of front-runners for two female leads in the upcoming Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises.  The contenders: Jessica Biel (spotted out in Hollywood getting a pedicure yesterday), Anne Hathaway, Kate Mara, Charlotte Riley, Keira Knightly, and Gemma Arterton.  If you don’t recognize some of these names, it’s because the actresses are relative up-and-comers (Mara was featured in 127 Hours and Iron Man 2 and her sister, Rooney Mara, is currently filming The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo).  The film calls for two lead female roles-a love interest and a villain.  Naomi Watts was rumored to be on the short list, but she is filming The Impossible with Ewan McGregor in Thailand.

One of the main female roles is Talia, daughter of Batman’s bad guy rival Ra’s Al Ghul (Liam Neeson played this character in Batman Begins).  Talia is a tricky b*tch because, according to The Hollywood Reporter, she “is both Batman’s lover and antagonist, ultimately siring his alter ego Bruce Wayne’s son.” DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUN!

Personally, I feel that Anne Hathaway is far too overexposed lately and I’d prefer it if she went back to making princess movies (strike while the iron is hot, I say.  April 29th is ’round the corner).  My picks are Jessica Biel and Kate Mara.  Although the other two newcomers could surprise me.  Cancel out Knightly, too.  I’m over her.

Which actresses would you like to see in the female roles of The Dark Knight Rises?
