The Cast Of ‘Modern Family’ Is Having Fun Getting to Know Australia

I’m a little overly obsessed with Modern Family, and these pictures of one of my favorite characters chillin in Australia just couldn’t make me any happier.

Nolan Gould, who plays Luke Dunphy on the hit ABC show Modern Family, was seen catching some waves with his surfboard on Bondi Beach in Australia. He definitely looked the part, sporting a wetsuit and a couple of surfer boy poses. Modern Family will be filming scenes for the show in Australia, and a few of the actors headed there early to have some fun before the work begins.

Nolan Gould picked up surfing pretty quickly considering he’s only 15-years-old. On the show, his character Luke is portrayed as being not the brightest bulb in the shed, but that is very far off from what Nolan is actually like off screen. The young actor has an IQ of 150 and graduated from high school when he was only 13-years-old. I wonder what it’s like playing dumb when you’re probably smarter than everyone else on set?

Despite the not so type casting, Nolan loves the show and is excited for some of the things that are coming up. “There’s a couple of disastrous things that happen to Phil: he’s allergic to Vegemite and he gets hit by a kangaroo.”

Modern Family has a tradition of filming the holiday episodes in special destinations, but this is the first time the show will be filming outside of the US. When asked why the show is headed to Australia, executive producer Steven Levitan couldn’t help throwing in a joke. “We just had to go to Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef, since, like Sofia Vergara, it’s one of the natural wonders of the world.”

I’m so pumped. There better be lots of shirtless Australians, kangaroos, and crazy mishaps involved. I’ll be waiting.
