AnnaSophia Robb knows that critics and Sex And The City fans will tear her upcoming CW series, The Carrie Diaries to shreds, but she’s not that bothered by it.

“I know everyone’s going to compare it to Sex and the City, but we’re never going to be that,” Robb told Us Weekly at the launch of Salvatore Ferragamo’s Signorina fragrance in New York.  “The show is more for my generation, but it’s set in the ’80s, so it’s fun.”

Robb revealed that Sarah Jessica Parker recently sent words of encouragement.  “She sent me a letter! I wrote her one back, too,” Rob told Us.  “She was just very encouraging about it all. It was really cool!”

As a die-hard SATC fan who watches episodes on the regular, I can see that the road ahead for the series will be bumpy, especially given that it’s not on cable.  “We’ve been doing a lot of rehearsals this week, and I’ve been watching the show and really trying to click with the character,” Robb said.  Better get started on vintage shopping, darling.

Robb and co-star Ellen Wong (who plays Jill “The Mouse” Thompson) were spotted on set today (March 21st).
