Summer is overflowing with die-worthy bands playing at huge summer festivals. Coachella, Vans Warped Tour, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits… you name it! While you’re jumping along to the music of your favorite bands this summer, it’s important that you have an unforgettable experience free from wardrobe malfunctions and fashion no-nos.
Here are three staples of music fest fashion:
A great hat: You need to keep out of the sun, to protect your skin from the sun, keep cool, and maybe even to keep rain from blinding you if you get caught in a rainstorm. (Hey, it’s summer; anything could happen!)
Do not try to wear high-heels to a music festival: If you’re planning on battling with die-hard fans to get close to the stage, you will need to protect your feet. Gladiator sandals are cute and bohemian, but they do not offer much protection against the enthusiastic crowd, stomping their feet on the ground to the beat of the music. Try casual close-toed footwear, like Converse or some boots. If it looks like rain, it may be best to wear cute, colorful rain boots.
Layers, layers and more layers: I like to imagine each layer I wear as its own outfit. Ladies, why not wear a bra that is cute and comfortable enough to wear as a solo top layer when it’s hot, but also works as a base layer too. Over that goes a light tank top or T-shirt (or dress) and always keep a light sweater or jacket (if rain is anticipated) in your backpack.
