The 6 Cutest Things Prince William Said About His New Family

CNN showed a preview of Prince William’s Passion: New Father, New Hope this morning, the Duke’s first interview since the birth of his son, HRH Prince George of Cambridge.

Journalist Max Foster asked questions about fatherhood and William’s passion for African wildlife preservation, particularly his work with the Tusk Trust.

Here are the six cutest things that came out of today’s preview:

#1 Prince William does things the old-fashioned way, driving his newborn home at 10 mph in the hopes of making it there in one piece.

“Driving your son and your wife away from hospital was really important to me.  I don’t like fuss, so it’s much easier to do it yourself.”

#2 Everyone wants to see your baby when you step out of hospital, whether you’re a prince or…something less regal.

“I think I was on such a high about George (so was Catherine), that really we were happy to show him off to whomever wanted to see him.

#3 Miraculously, William didn’t get his fingers caught in the car seat while snapping George in.  Nor did he hover for minutes on end trying to get the sodding thing to work.

“It wasn’t my first time.  I had to practice. I really did. I was really terrified that it was going to fall off or the door wasn’t going to close properly.

#4 Hearing William call his son a “rascal” (in that divine British accent) reminds me of the time Chris Hemsworth imitated his daughter trying to get out of a tight swaddle.

“He’s a little bit of a rascal.  He either reminds me of my brother or me when I was younger, I’m not sure.  He’s doing very well at the moment.  He does like to keep having his nappy changed.  He writhers around quite a lot and doesn’t want to go to sleep that much.”

#5 No one can escape nappy duty (shame on you, Donald Trump).

“I wasn’t allowed to get away with it.  I had every midwife staring at me going, ‘You do it, you do it.’”

#6 Life’s a bit different than it was even just a year ago.

“For me, Catherine and now little George are my priorities.  And Lupo.  He’s coping alright.  He’s been slobbering around the house a bit.  He’s perfectly happy.”

Prince William’s Passion: New Father, New Hope airs September 15th at 10pm ET.
