Ted Danson Named New Leading Man On ‘CSI’

Eleven years, over 250 episodes, two spin-offs, and a few leading men later, actor Ted Danson will join Las Vegas’s elite team of forensic experts for the 12th season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

Replacing former CSI star Laurence FishburneEW reports that Danson’s character will take on the role of the CSI supervisor for the grave shift after transferring from Portland’s crime lab.

The search for the drama’s new leading man was a difficult one. According to EW, CBS supposedly considered actors like Tony ShalhoubRobin Williams and John Lithgow before deciding on Danson, who will remain on HBO’s Bored to Death as well.

“You can create a new character on the page, but until the perfect actor comes along and breathes life into it, it’s just words,” said executive producer Carol Mendelsohn. “We’re very excited Ted Danson came along.”
