Stefano Langone got the boot on American Idol‘s results show Thursday night. His days were numbered after consistently falling into the bottom three.
On Wednesday’s performance show he sang R & B singer Ne-Yo‘s “Closer” on the show Wednesday with his t-shirt tucked in, red suspenders pulled down, and lover-man vibe turned all the way up.
He said goodbye with a disco-infused performance of Stevie Wonder‘s “Lately.” Jacob Lusk and Haley Reinhart were in the bottom three with Stefano, but they’ll be back next week.
Contestant James Durbin was caught on camera holding his head in his hands and shedding tears as host Ryan Seacrest read out the results of the public vote. Durbin, who has become close friends with Langone over the last few weeks, then picked his pal up after his final performance of Stevie Wonder classic Lately.
Kanye West made an appearance during Katy Perry‘s performance of “E.T.” Season seven American Idol champ David Cook also returned to the show to debut his new single, “The Last Goodbye.” It’ll be included on his sophomore album, This Loud Morning, which comes out June 28.
American Idol‘s top six return next Wednesday night on Fox to battle it out for the nation’s vote, singing the songs of Carole King. Bruno Mars and Crystal Bowersox will also perform next week.
