Socialite Life BS Awards 2008: No. 10 – Miley Cyrus

December 16th, 2008 // 4 Comments

This has been a big year for Miley Cyrus.

One of the most memorable gossip events of 2008 was her infamous Vanity Fair photoshoot. And then there was the aftermath that followed, the apologies, the interviews addressing the incident using descriptive metaphors and finally at the end of the year, Miley brought it full circle when she expressed a desire to work under the tutelage of the photographer at the heart of the scandal, Annie Leibovitz.

And the best part of that whole situation is that those “scandalous” Vanity Fair pictures had nothing on the numerous racy self-portraits of Miley that had her either showing off her beloved tummy, or arousing the interest of a red-faced male companion.

Then Miley and her too-old-for-this-shit buddy Mandy Jiroux gave her young Disney upstart Selena Gomez and her BFF Demi Lovato a YouTube “f*ck you” because Miles was jealous that the Wizards of Waverly Place star was not only dating her ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas, but that Gomez was being called “the next Miley.” Then Miley employed obvious intimidation tactics to sweep the whole incident under the rug.

But if that weren’t enough to warrant this award, there are Miley’s many obnoxious faces. What faces, you might ask? To which we reply, “Oh you know damn well what we’re talking about.”

It’s our hope that next year, Miley’s tongue finally manages to secede from the union that is the rest of her and that photographers will be there to record that historic moment.

    My god,

Finally a teen starlett who actually acts like a normal teenager, instead of some stuck up imitation perfect plastic doll.

She deserves the “Role Model of the Year Award” for sticking to her guns, having fun, trying to do whats right, admiting when she makes a mistakes, learning from them, forgiving others, and being a teenager First, and a singer/performer/actor second. She shows everyone that no one, not even stars are perfect, and we should try to be who we are, not what others want us to be. And lets not forget, she has given and rasied more money for Charity this year than any of her contempory’s. Yet all people can do is slam her for not being who “they” want her to be and act like. Well too bad! Too many tween and teen girl buckle under pressure and its’s refreshing to see a girl who is in the public eye go through the same issues and make many of the same mistakes, yet graciously recovers and moves on and learns from them.

Such a wonderful role model….sounds more like PR spin.

What is a 15year old girl doing dating a 22 year old man?

    Where are this girls parents?

First he is 20, not 22. he won’t be 22 unitl she is 18 at which time who will even care.

Second, at no time has she ever said she is dating him. Other people have put words in her mouth, and tried to say they are dating.

BTW both my grandfathers were in their 20′s and married my grandmothers at 14 and 16. It was very common occurance up until after WWII.

And Mary was only 14-16 year old when she Married Joseph and she gave birth to Jesus.

It’s only been in the last 50 to 100 years that it;s become taboo and in most cases illegal for a 16 year old to have a relationship with anyone over the age of 18, and that only in this country for the most part. I’m not saying I necessarliy approve, but so long as nothing illegal is going on, (and their is absolutly no evidence that their is), and her parents are OK with it, I say leave her alone and let her family take care of things. It’s not mine or your business and I refuse to judge her. I don’t have all the details and neither does anyone else.

She says they are just good friends and no one has caught them doing anything in public yet beyond holding hands and goofing around with each other. Everything else is just Gossip, and un-proven with no evidence.

Wow, that’s quite a comment Stan. I by no means dislike Miley Cyrus and I’ll even admit that I watch her show from time to time and find it funny but I have to say the whole Annie Leibovitz photo shoot scandal does make you think twice about her. It’s funny that she would like to do another photo shoot with the famous photographer but the question is would Annie like to do another photo shoot with Miley? I think she’s burned her bridges there.
