10-year-old actor Azharuddin Ismail played a young Jamal in the critically-acclaimed film Slumdog Millionaire and received a harsh sting of a welcome back when he returned home to Mumbai.
The little boy reportedly was slapped by his father after returning to his family’s home, he was suffering from jetlag and wanted to go straight to sleep, refusing to stand outside his home to be shown off by his father. The incident took place in full view of neighbors. An onlooker claims the boy was tired from his flight: “However, when Azharuddin put his foot down and said that was it and there was
to be no more talking, Ismail just flipped.”
The 45-year-old father tried to explain his actions by saying, “I was so confused and stressed by my son’s homecoming that I did not know
myself for a minute. I love my boy and I am very happy to have him home.”
Mo’ money, mo’ problems, y’all.
