Shia LaBeouf Talks Growing Up, Trying New Things
From his breakout role as the annoying kid brother in Disney’s Even Stevens, to starring in the hit Transformers trilogy, the latest of which opened today, actor Shia LaBeouf has grown up in front of cameras. But now, at the age of 25, LaBeouf is taking even more steps in an effort to smooth out at least some of his rough edges.
The Transformers: Dark of the Moon actor opened up to the Los Angeles Times about some of these changes, including trying new foods encouraged by his girlfriend, stylist Karolyn Pho. “Pate? A cheese plate? That’s a very 25-year-old deal,” he said in the interview. “I can get down with some fig jelly and some cheese on a cracker.”
While trying some cheese maybe isn’t the biggest of steps in terms of personal growth, perhaps Pho, who was recently photographed happily holding hands with the somewhat scruffy LaBeouf, is a good influence on him.
The actor also said that he regretted the bar fight he got into earlier in February, yet seemed to blame it on the mindset he was in before filming the Prohibition-era film, The Wettest County in the World.
Even director Steven Spielberg has encouraged LaBeouf to watch his ways. LaBeouf told the Los Angeles Times, “The way Steven described it to me was, ‘When Tom Cruise walks outside his house, he doesn’t pick his nose. From the minute he leaves his door to the minute he comes back home, he doesn’t pick his nose.’ Now that’s a certain way to live your life that I have no ambitions toward.”
Well, maybe LaBeouf still has some work to do. What do you think about this actor’s rough edges? Share your thoughts by posting in the comments section below!
