World domination tour, UK premiere, tomato, tomahto. Call it what you like, but the Sex and the City sequel took in $3 million from midnight screenings in the US last night alone and is projected to take in $60 million through Memorial Day weekend.
So how does the UK premiere stack up against the US premiere fashion wise? It’s hard to beat that amazing yellow dress Sarah Jessica Parker twirled about in. You know what they say – if you can’t beat ‘em join the circus…? WHAT is that thing on her head, did SJP get Lost‘s smoke monster a new job? Her style is always out there, but holy dead Christmas tree, this just reeks of some kind of fashion punchline. Well is SATC, so I would have been more disappointed if she went boring. (For those of you who hate your bridesmaids that’s a Philip Treacy hat and an Alexander McQueen dress.)
It’s certainly more interesting than Kim Cattrall, who does the old Hollywood glamor thing well, but it’s been done to death, and Kristin Davis, who wore a beautiful gold embellished halter dress and yet somehow she looks the same as usual. Cynthia Nixon, on there other hand, looks nothing like usual and is damn sexy in a cobalt blue Narcisco Rodriguez gown.
