Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck?

January 13th, 2009 // 7 Comments

Uh, well. Drop the “Elizabeth Affleck”  and she kinda sounds like she should be telling us how to kill Dracula. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have released the name of their new baby. Their second daughter is named Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck. How do you even shorten that? What are the kids at school going to call her? Sera, maybe? Violet dodged a big bullet.

And for those interested, Seraphina’s name derives from the Biblical word “seraphim” which is a type of angel and also means “fiery one” in Hebrew. Were these two getting stoned one night (post- or pre- pregnancy of course) and they started getting Old Testament?

Here’s Ben and elder daughter Violet at her school in Santa Monica. Cute t-shirt.

My daughter’s name is Seraphine… very similar, and we have always (mostly) called her Sera. I, obviously am biased.

I think it’s cute. Congrats again to them

    Could have been worse.
    I mean.
I’d much rather be Seraphina than Bronx, Zuma, DivaMuffin, Harlow, Apple, Coco or Lola.

Oh, God, Rose Elizabeth Affleck sounds good, but why seraphina??? Really, why?

I hope the end calling her Rose o Elizabeth, or Eli, or Eliza, or Liz or Lizzie but no Seraphina…

One question, the final “a” it’s pronounced like a spanish “a” or it doesn’t sound at all?

Would be much better if that “a” doesn’t soud… Sounding something like Serafin…

Seraphina is a pretty name. My daughter’s name is Seraphine which is also a beautiful name. I’ve had lots of complements on this. The Afflect’s obviously love the name and probably get the same grief we’ve had over the name but who cares! Why be conventional.
