Selena Gomez is having a good week. I’m not talking about her usual good fortune. You know, the impossibly shiny, commercial-worthy mop of hair, the mouth of a cherub, and her squeaky-clean image (the kind most teens stars muck up with trashy pics of themselves naked in a dressing room mirror, I won’t name names). I’m not even reporting on her Saturday night win at The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award for Favorite TV Actress. I’m referring to the fact that this 17-year-old queen of teens has snagged herself her own fashion line at Kmart.
Gomez’s Dream Out Loud Collection will hit the market in July featuring apparel, handbags, belts, scarves, hats, hair accessories, socks, hosiery and eventually footwear, all of which will be sold for $24 or less. According to the star, Dream Out Loud is a reflection of her own “Texan cowgirl meets the glam Boho chic of Hollywood” style. Cute!
Kmart is projecting earnings of $100 million in the collection’s first year alone, and the starlet gushes, “this has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember.” Considering Gomez will be turning 18 the same month the line is presented to the public, she can’t have been dreaming about it too long. I mean, the kid is barely legal! Regardless, it would appear Selena’s good week is looking more like an extremely successful year. Good fortune, indeed.
