Selena Gomez Denied Russian Visa Due To Gay Rights Stance
Gomez was forced to cancel two concerts in Russia today after government officials denied her visa, reportedly related to stricter transit laws for foreign artists linked to the country’s controversial anti-gay legislation.
The officials are said to have tightened their rules against performers, who voice their opinions on the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender movement after Madonna and Lady Gaga openly criticized Russias stance on gay community.
Gomez had been scheduled to perform in St. Petersburg on September 23 and in Moscow on September 25. The singer will continue on her Stars Dance tour with upcoming performances in the United States.
