Sean Penn Gets Politically Raw

December 20th, 2006 // 9 Comments

Starpulse reports that Sean Penn got very honest and a little graphic in a speech he gave Monday.

Sean Penn stunned audience members when he called for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney and used inappropriate language during a controversial acceptance speech on Monday.

Penn was accepting the Christopher Reeve First Amendment Award at the Creative Coalition ceremony in New York City, when he made the comments in front of a star-studded audience.

Sean Penn’s rant is after the jump.

The 46-year-old star went on a rant arguing against the war in Iraq and the Bush administration saying, “Let’s put his administration under oath. And then if the crimes of treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors are proven, do as Article 2, Section 4 of the United States Constitution provides, and remove the president, vice president, and…civil officers of the United States from office. Let’s move forward and swiftly get out of this war in Iraq and impeach these b**tards.”

Penn also shocked the crowd by saying, “So look, if we attempt to impeach for lying about a blow job (referring to former President Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky), yet accept these almost certain abuses without challenge, we become a c** stain on the flag we wave.”

I think that last part really did it for me. How nicely put.

Well stated and so true. Go Sean!

  2. Bravo! Bout time more people started stepping up to the Bush Admin! They need to be held accountable for the wrongs they have perpetrated!

he’s one of our few brave stars who isn’t hypocritical when it comes to speaking his mind. Our Queen, his ex-wife, comes to mind…

  4. tex

So sad that he can’t even express himself articulately. What a dimwit.

  5. ang

So people are upset that Sean Penn used his first amendment rights to express his opinion while accepting an award called the Christopher Reeve First Amendment Award?

  6. Cracker

I am sure his parents are so glad they spent all the money on his education. Oh wait, they didn’t did they? The anti-Bush pundants must be so proud to have him as a spokesperson. With enemies like Sean Penn, George Bush doesn’t need friends.

  7. Molls

I just can’t resist. Cracker, I think the word you’re stuggling for is “pundit”.

Sean Penn certainly has a right to his own opinion. The rest of us also have a right to our own opinions. For any of us to be paying attention to what some naive jackass actor says about the US president and the war on terrorism is a damn shame. Whoever thinks this idiot has a clue to what he’s talking about needs to start doing a little research on the internet as to what the war on fanatical Islamic terrorism actually entails. Reading the delusional rantings of a bunch nutbags on is not what I mean. Sure it’s fun to read about what idiot in Hollywood made an ass out of him/herself today, but at the same time, educate yourselves a little bit on some of the geopolitical issues of today as well. Oh for the record, the impeachment of Clinton wasn’t about whether he got blown in the Whitehouse or not, it’s that he lied under oath. But that’s my whole point, morons like Penn don’t ever bother to educate themselves on the facts. They just blather on and on about how they feel and what they want to believe happened, whether it happened or not… because some other educationally challenged Hollywood bonehead said it was so. Then the press picks it up as gospel and repeats it as though it’s factual, when in fact it’s just bullshit.

ndmntx -yeah, but the thing clinton lied about was the blow job….which by the way, was none of anyone’s business except for his, hilary’s and monica’s.
george bush lied to congress and america about his reasons for STARTING A GODDAMNED WAR that has killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people. that is the epitome of “high crimes and midemeanors”
