Sean Combs Is Unforgivable

Our trademark snoop, Christopher Peterson, has uncovered that the trademark application for Sean Combs’ fragrance Unforgivable was denied by the trademark office. This is because a French company, SPPC Paris Bleu, has already registered the name. SPPC first registered UNFORGIVEN and got approval, and has subsequently registered UNFORGIVABLE, and it has just been cleared to be published for opposition. Oops. A copy of the refusal is shown below, as well as the opposition for Sean Combs and Estee Lauder’s use of Unforgivable.

It looks as if Sean Combs and Estee Lauder could be out some major bucks. If they only had access to the services of our trademark snoop, Christopher Peterson. Sean John’s filing date was June 22, 2005, almost three weeks after SPPC Paris Bleu’s. Here is the opposition filing:
