Sarah Jessica Parker Disses Victoria Beckham

December 20th, 2005 // 5 Comments

It’s about time someone spoke out regarding the celebrity phenomena of getting back into shape pronto after having a baby.

The former Spice Girl sparked controversy when she appeared with a slender frame after each of her three sons – Romeo, Brooklyn and Cruz- were delivered by caesarean section. But the 40-year-old American actress – who gave birth to her son James Wilke three years ago – insists mothers should ignore the singer’s bad example and instead strive to maintain a healthy body weight after pregnancy.

Parker says, “There’s all this emphasis on losing weight after you have a baby. Look at Posh Spice or whoever. But that life is not what’s real.

“Luckily my doctor told me, ‘You have to eat well and keep your weight on if you’re going to nurse that baby. That’s what’s important. And if you have an issue with weight and you need to lose it, then we’ll deal with that then.’”

Amen, hallelujah, and right on! (THough, I have to say, someone as reed thin as SJP talking about losing weight after baby is pretty silly!)

But YES, there’s some insane fad running amok about this women getting back to pre-pregnancy shape almost as fast as they get the kid out, and then these celebs go on about how the weight just “falls off” by nursing. BS, girlies! Some of the weight falls off, but when you’re Miss Heidi Klum and sucking down 1,000 calories of straight protein all day and working out 5 times a day, it’s unreasonable. How many of these celebs who are powering down the Red Bulls and protein shakes really believe the public believes they are in any physical state to be nursing a babY?

Umm, where is SJP coming from, when she was bearing her midriff less than two months after her baby [watch SATC]??? I’m sure that happened with proper exercise and diet. Puh-leeze. I’ve heard of the princesses/trophy wives who are anorexic during their pregnancies and proud to talk how they gained only 15-20 lbs during pregnancy. Argh.

    aww c’mon now

everyone out there who would opt for a tummy tuck in conjunction with having a caesarean if they could afford it – raise your hand

I just wonder how Posh ever got preggers in the first place. Don’t you need some body fat to ovulate?
