Sarah Ferguson Talks About Not Being Invited To The Royal Wedding
Oprah sat down with Sarah Ferguson and candidly asked whether the Duchess of York was invited to the royal wedding or not. “I was not invited, and I chose to go and be in Thailand in a place called Camelia and … the jungle embraced me,” she explained, according to People. The interview will air tomorrow.
Fergie was hurt by the snub, and wished to be there with her daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, and her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, Duke of York. Fergie said it was “so difficult. Because I wanted to be there with my girls and … to be getting them dressed and to go as a family. And also it was so hard because the last bride up that aisle was me.”

The Duchess, who split amicably from Prince Andrew in 1996, was caught on tape exchanging money in return for business access to him. That added to the history of bad press she’s responsible for over the years, so the royal family thought it best to not invite her to the wedding. It didn’t stop the prince from consoling his ex-wife when she wasn’t invited on April 29th. “In fact,” Fergie told Oprah, “when Andrew went with the girls, we were talking all morning and he was saying, ‘it’s okay. Just remember we had such a good day. Our wedding was so perfect.'” Fergie still has the support of her two daughters. She and Princess Beatrice were spotted back in February leaving the Gordon Ramsay At Claridges Restaurant together in London, England.
Fergie, who was friends with Diana, Princess of Wales, was there to witness her former sister-in-law’s lasting effects on Prince William and Prince Harry. “I think Diana would be so proud of her son,” Fergie said. “And – both of them, you know? They did a great job. And I really love the feeling that sort of Diana and I both weren’t there. But I’m here to say how proud she would have been, and Kate looked utterly beautiful.”
