Ryan Phillippe Is Friends With Reese Witherspoon and Is Learning To Play The Game
Ryan Phillippe sat down with Inked magazine to talk about his tattoos and how they reflect parts of his life. One of those tattoos is a blue sword on his leg with a Latin phrase that means “words cannot harm.” Any guess what time that ones from?
Phillippe, who was tired of getting shit on by the press for his break-up with Reese Witherspoon says “No one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. But I am a decent person. I got so sick of being told how shitty I was.”
He had a ladybug on his foot that had a connection to “an ex” but he covered it up with a stingray and he won’t say which ex. He does talk about Reese, saying things are better between them. “She and I have a great friendship related to [the kids] now. They’re our focus, and I think we’ve done a really good job raising them and transitioning from what our life was to what it is now.”
Another tat is a phoenix on his forearm which signifies a rebirth and and trying new things, like sitting front row at Calvin Klein’s Fashion Week show. “I used to be like, ‘Fuck going to a fashion show–it’s superficial.’ But now I have a different appreciation for it. You need to be relevant, because otherwise you will be forgotten. I’ve got to play the game a little bit more.”
How were you married to Reese and just now be figuring out the Hollywood game? It’s like she invented it.
