Ryan Gosling Surprises CinemaCon with New ‘Blade Runner 2049′ Footage

Ryan Gosling treated the audience to an extended look at Blade Runner 2049, the upcoming sequel to the classic 1982 sci-fi film Blade Runner.

The sequel’s star, Ryan Gosling, introduced the footage, noting the tremendous visual influence of the original. “I saw everything that stole from it first and when I was old enough, I think I was 13 or 14 I saw it for the very first time. I was just blown away by how influential this film had been,” Gosling said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“It’s quite a prophetic film in so many ways. It was a world that had influenced the world I grew up in. To be part of it it’s hard to say how special it was.”

The film was shot in Las Vegas and Gosling added: “I’m not even sure I’m allowed to say I had a good time making it.”

According to Variety, Gosling told the crowd of theater owners that the team behind Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 tried to keep CGI to a minimum. “Every location was real,” said Gosling. “Every set was there…It was a fully functioning, living, breathing world.”

The new footage shows Gosling meeting up with the retired Deckard and showed plenty of Jared Leto as a creepy villain and a fellow officer played by Robin Wright.
