Ryan Gosling Kicks Off ‘Blade Runner 2049′ Promo in Barcelona

The stars and filmmakers of Blade Runner 2049, actors Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks and director Denis Villeneuve were on hand in Barcelona to promote their film during the CineEurope event earlier today (June 19, 2017) in Barcelona, Spain.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at a photocall for the film earlier in the day, Gosling admitted that it wasn’t until he was 14 that he saw the 1982 original Blade Runner.

“It’s iconic for a reason. It’s a very deep and powerful and haunting film,” he said. “It leaves you with more questions than answers and, as a kid, I wasn’t used to that. I was used to things being sewn up for me. It was exciting as a fan to know that some of those questions might get answered and to go back into that universe and explore that world and see how things evolved.”

As for Villeneuve, Gosling said the director was “so loyal to the original, but at the same time wasn’t intimidated by it.”

Here is a rundown of the plot of the film:

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
