Sad news for fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race – season 2 contestant Sahara Davenport (a/k/a Antoine Ashley) has passed away at the age of 27. The cause of death is still unknown.

In addition to performing as Sahara, Antoine was a classically trained dancer and also appeared on the soap opera One Life to Live. He and his partner Karl Westerberg (a/k/a Manila Luzon) were fixtures on the New York City social scene and recorded a cover of the Christmas classic “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”. Sahara also released two singles, “Pump with Me” and Go Off” and appeared in Manila’s recently released “Hot XXXcessory” video.

Reaction from Sahara’s Drag Race sisters has flooded Twitter.

RuPaul tweeted, “Shocked & heartbroken over @SaharaDavenport. Never occurred to me that we’d ever lose one of my girls. I see them as immortal.” Logo released a statement on their Facebook page which said, in part, “Logo is profoundly saddened by the passing of Antoine Ashley who fans around the world knew and loved as Sahara Davenport. He was an amazing artist and entertainer who’ll be deeply missed by his Logo family.”

We will miss you as well, Sahara. Rest in peace.
