Half the reason we flip through pictures of British society happenings is to see what kind of headwear the women are wearing, and the royal wedding was no exception. True to form, Princess Beatrice stepped out of her chauffered car wearing what looked like a fallopian tube tied into a bow set against a toilet seat. This design, created by famed milliner Philip Treacy, went viral instantly.
“Princess Beatrice is Queen Victoria’s great, great, great, great granddaughter and looks like Queen Victoria. I thought of her as a beautiful, exotic, Victorian doll. I thought I was making a hat with a bow on it,” Treacy told the Observer of the design he had in mind for his royal client.
We shouldn’t knock what the Brits are wearing. Where else can you wear puff paint and feathers atop your head and saunter into a church service? Go forth and fascinate, I say.
