In what I refer to as the ‘Jane Fonda’ method of reporting (“1…2…now STRETCH!”), researchers at Ancestry.co.uk have revealed that Robert Pattinson, star of that whole vampire/werewolf thing you may have heard of called Eclipse, may actually be related to the real-life Dracula.
Vlad the Impaler, the Transylvanian leader widely thought to be the inspiration for the main character in Bram Stoker’s legendary 1897 novel Dracula, is apparently a distant uncle of England’s Prince William and Prince Harry (What!), who are distant cousins of Pattinson (What the WHAT!?).
“Tracing Pattinson’s family back to Vlad was difficult research, but the pieces that unraveled created the perfect accompaniment to the Twilight Saga,”said Anastasia Tyler, a genealogist at Ancestry.com. “Without any myth or magic, we find royalty and vampires lurking in Pattinson’s life — making his story just as supernatural as the one he’s playing on screen.”
Vlad was famous for executing his enemies by driving wooden stakes into their bodies, but knowing that he made have had gold dust body shimmer glitter makes him so much easier to fall in love with. Swoon!
