On Monday night Robert Pattinson made his first TV appearance since the shocking photos of Kristen Stewart embracing married director Rupert Sanders were published. Having to finally face the light due to the promotion schedule for his latest film Cosmopolis, Pattinson graced the set of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show.
A highly anticipated moment, host Jon Stewart made light of the situation for his heartbroken guest.
“I’m worried about you. Is everything alright?” Jon asked Robert.
“Now I’m going to sound like an idiot. But, like, my biggest problem in life is that I’m cheap. I didn’t hire a publicist” Rob said. “And in every awkward interview, normally actors get everything scripted. I’m going to hire a publicist.”
During the interview, Jon brought out Ben and Jerry’s ice cream as a way to console Robert.
“Don’t you think? Listen, the last time I had a bad breakup, Ben and Jerry got me through,” Jon said. So I thought you and I could bond over this and talk about, ‘Boy, you are better off. Kick her [Kristen] to the curb! Whatever.’”
The audience erupted in cheers and Pattinson grinned sheepishly.
“When you are young and you break up, it’s powerful and it feels like the world is ending,” Stewart told him, adding, “This is my wish for you: That you can handle your business in private.”
