No splashes were made circa ’97 when Ginger Spice donned her still-talked-about Union Jacket mini (mini mini mini), but everyone looked mighty fine at this year’s BRIT Awards in London. Tonight (February 21st), Rihanna, Kylie Minogue, Lana Del Ray and Nicole Scherzinger walked the red carpet at the O2 Arena for England’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards.
“The Brits are a moment for the industry to take stock, see what works and perhaps what didn’t work, and to celebrate success,” Minogue told the BBC on the red carpet.
The show, which is already underway, looks to be a lock for Adele. As this is being written, she scooped up Best British Female Solo Artist. The hype surrounding Adele this past year is believable, because sister can sing. Glad to see that her vocals have healed.
One Direction made the girls go “Aaaaaaaah!” on the red carpet, but I was more about Coldplay. Sing me a melody, dear Chris Martin.
Comedian James Corden (Gavin & Stacy, friend of David Beckham) hosts the ceremony, airing on British network ITV.
