Ricky Martin’s Rainbow Family

August 9th, 2007 // 12 Comments

This man is just too cute to me. I don’t know what it is, but he has wormed his way into my heart. Oh wait, it’s how he looks in a tiny little bathing suit that I suspect came straight out of International Male. That’s right. I remember now. The Puerto Rican pop star is reiterating his interest in starting a family, by adopting children from various countries in the world.

“It’s something we want to begin to create this year, a family of many colors.”

His goal is to adopt a bevy of kiddos, possibly “one from each continent.” But the 35-year-old bachelor knows that it may end up being a complicated process–one that he’s willing to endure, to make sure that the adoption process is on the up-and-up.

“I want to do it right,” he said. “I don’t want any problems or misunderstandings. … Some think as celebrities we can manipulate the system to have a quicker adoption.”

Wait a minute, so as a celebrity you don’t get special treatment? Well, then, I guess I made the right decision years ago to eschew the fame that would have come along with a highly successful supermodel career that I decided to forgo for a life of blogging about celebrities. I made the right choice indeed.

    “we want to begin”?
so, who’s we? is it the person who gets the golden showers?

I would glady join his little band of Benetton babies.
    Hello Daddy!

    I don’t understand this.

Why this drive to adopt a rainbow of children within a year? Is he teaming up with Disney to crete a “it’s a small world” ride in Puerto Rico? Does he have any children of his own already? I like to believe in the goodwill of others but this doesn’t make any sense to me.

I could say that he’s adopting because he’s gay, but then someone will log on and tell me about how his female sig. other may not be able to have children, or wants to help children across the world, and how gays want to make everyone out to be gay, etc. etc.

If Ricky lives in Puerto Rico and is Latin, does that make a blonde child from the continental U.S. part of his “rainbow”? If so, maybe he should adopt Britney’s kids and move them to Puerto Rico.

If this story is true, this is an OBVIOUS copy of Angelina Jolie.

I always thought Ricky Martin is gay. He’s a sexy Latino. He hasn’t been “hot” on the charts for years and has been relaxing. He should be married with a bunch of sons and daughters by now, but he’s not.

I wonder if he was physically/sexually abused. He is really adamant about dealing with the sexual exploitation of children. I think it’s close to his heart for some reason.

Ricky loves childen and has a good life. He seems to be very sensitive. I think he would make a wonderful father. He should be given the chance to have a “rainbow family” too.

More close to the point is to provide for the families of children so they can keep and support them, let mothers and fathers adopt children into a loving family of a married couple.. and not teach young people to loosen their morals and do their sexy thang, then give their children up to orphanges, or die of aids or have an abortion? He’s a loser on that fact of life!

Isn’t there a way to help needy children without adopting them? Oh, wait, then it wouldn’t put him on the cover of tabloids.

Until this story, I’d assumed he was dead since he’s been gone so long.

, let mothers and fathers adopt children into a loving family of a married couple

and if the children die/are abused while waiting for the palethora (not) of such couples to come and rescue them, then I guess thats okay because you and your morals would have been abided by. And thats the point right? Not that children have an opportunity to be loved and protected by at least one human being?! I mean god when you turn into a little orphan alone in the world, then you can demand that you only be adopted by a hetero christian family (which by the by does not guarantee you jack shit!) I think that if it were you, you would take what you can get and if you think not, talk to kids who have been through foster care. Even in industrialized nations foster care is Hell on earth. So Ricky, adopt away!!! I don’t care if it sells mags, that one less child who is truly alone.
