Before ending his second tour-of-duty in Afghanistan, Prince Harry granted an interview to the press at Camp Bastion, where he’s been based since September 2012.
Captain Wales, as he’s referred to in the army, is co-pilot gunner in Apache helicopters. Despite being so far way from home, Harry was able to share his happiness with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge‘s baby news.
“Obviously I’m thrilled for both of them,” Harry told the press (via People Magazine). ”It’s about time!
“I spoke to my brother and her, and they’re both very well and both very happy obviously,” Harry added, making it quite clear his feelings on their early announcement. “I think it’s very unfair that they were forced to publicize it when they were, but that’s just the media for you.”
Harry, always one to bust his older brother’s chops, is always keeping in mind Catherine’s health and her need for privacy. The Duchess of Cambridge suffered from acute morning sickness in the early months of her pregnancy.
“I literally am very, very happy for them,” Harry said, “but I just only hope that she and him – but mainly Catherine – hopefully that she gets the necessary protection to allow her as a mother-to-be to enjoy the privacy that that comes with. I seriously hope that’s going to be able to happen.”
As for Harry’s love life? He’s made it clear in the past that any girl who is willing to put up with a royal life will be a keeper.
“I don’t think you can ever be urged to settle down,” Harry said. ” If you find the right person and everything feels right, then it takes time, especially for myself and my brother.
You ain’t ever going to find someone who’s going to jump into the position that it would hold. Simple as that.”
