President Barack Obama Wins Re-Election

President Barack Obama won re-election Tuesday night despite a fierce challenge from Mitt Romney as well as a weak economy and high unemployment that crimped the middle class dreams of millions. The first broadcast networks called the race for Obama at 11:18 p.m. ET.

“This happened because of you. Thank you” he tweeted to supporters” as he secured four more years in the White House. Within minutes this tweet became the most retweeted tweet ever.

CNN, MSNBC and Fox News announced the news after they projected Obama had won the midwestern battleground of Ohio, the most hotly contested state in the country. No candidate has won the presidency without Ohio since 1960.

Obama tweeted “Four more years” and thanked his supporters on Twitter: “We’re all in this together. That’s how we campaigned.”

Congratulations Mr. President. If you missed his speech last night, you can watch it below.
