Cynthia Nixon Honored At The 21st GLAAD Media Awards

The 21st GLAAD Media Awards, recognizing “fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community” kicked off last night in New York and was hosted by Alan Cumming. Ceremonies will be conducted in LA on April 17th and San Francisco on June 5th.

Cynthia Nixon was honored last night with the Vito Russo Award for making a significant difference in promoting equal rights in the gay community. Joy Behar received the Excellence in Media Award and recognized television shows included Brothers & Sisters, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Parks and Recreation, and One Life to Live. Non-television winners included The New York Times for overall outstanding newspaper coverage and Detective Comics for outstanding comic book.
