Proud (And Capable) Papa Pete

Pete Wentz loooves to toot his own horn. Or maybe more appropriately put, he’s damn proud that he can pull off playing daddy all by himself. With his wifey, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, all tied up getting ready to debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway, Pete is on full-time diaper duty.

“I just spent the last weekend – Mom was rehearsing for Chicago – being Dad without a nanny, without Mom, and didn’t burn the house down,” Wentz told PEOPLE on Tuesday at the American Eagle Outfitters Times Square store opening, “So I’m pretty excited about that.”

OMG! No nanny? Who are you, a regular person? God forbid you have to take on SOME of the responsibilities involved in being a father. But don’t worry, it’s not all so bad! Bronx Mowgli (the couple’s son) is turning one this Friday, and his parents are throwing him a SpongeBob-themed birthday party. Honestly, all I can hope for with this kid’s future is that his hair will manage to stay far from a flat-iron.
