Strug, too, was a member of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics but she is perhaps better known for her 1996 appearance. In what has been described as one of the greatest Olympic moments, Strug showed her determination and committment to the sport and her team when she performed her second vault in the team competition on an injured ankle. After Moceanu fell on both her vaults, Strug went into the team's final event with a great deal of pressure on her shoulders. After falling and injuring herself on her first vault, Strug dusted herself off and went for second attempt. She stuck her landing on one foot with obvious pain showing on her face, and then collapsed to the mat. Strug qualified for the All-Around and for individual finals in floor and vault, but was unable to compete due to the injury.
