The Westboro Baptist Church are famed for brandishing homophobic placards saying 'God Hates Fags'. But now the US-based hate group are receiving a colourful backlash after a charity bought the house opposite their HQ, painted it with a gay pride rainbow and erected a pride flag on a 30-foot flagpole. Aaron Jackson, who started the charity Planting Peace, bought the 2-bed home in Topeka, Kansas for $80,000 and is now set to turn it into a gay-rights center, whch opened on March 19, 2013. "We're going to take the negative attention and spin it into something positive," said Jackson's friend Davis Hammet, 22, who planned the project with him. "Instead of millions of people getting this hate message, they're going to see a message of love and compassion."
